Alvin Huang
Specializes in documentary, portrait and landscape photography. He has explored dozens of intangible cultural heritage subjects and traveled extensively in western China for photographic projects. Each year he leads private, customized leisure photography and travel portrait trips overseas. An experienced retoucher with comprehensive photographic knowledge and advanced digital post-production skills, he has received dozens of provincial-level or higher awards and international awards. DAY 02Nov 3 · Beijing · Asia/ShanghaiBingshanliang–Milk Lake (Baiyin Chagan Lake)–Shitiao Mountain–Sanggendalai Town
Morning: Bingshanliang (2,211 meters; ancient glacial boulder fields and wind-turbine arrays). Photograph glacial remnants, turbines and expansive wilderness scenes. The summit’s open views suit aerial photography. Afternoon: Milk Lake (Baiyin Chagan Lake), whose milky-white surface comes from minerals. Capture light and shadow on the lake and wilderness. The lake may freeze in November, shifting the focus to frozen-lake landscape textures. Evening: Shitiao Mountain’s giant columnar basalt formations. Photograph stone-pillar silhouettes at golden-hour sunset and use an ultra-wide lens to convey geological grandeur. Drive to Sanggendalai Town for the night.

DAY 03Nov 4 · Beijing · Asia/ShanghaiXilingol Grassland Volcanoes (several differently shaped volcanoes)–Xilinhot
All day: explore the Xilingol grassland volcanic belt, visiting classic dormant volcanoes, flat-topped cones and lava plateaus. Photograph volcanic textures and lava remnants, and capture the array of volcanoes from above for a sense of ‘Mars on Earth.’ Sunset: photograph the volcanic plateau as the setting sun gilds the mountains and stretches light and shadow across lava formations.

DAY 04Nov 5 · Beijing · Asia/ShanghaiIn-depth Xilingol Grassland Volcano Photography–Pigeon Volcano–Abag Banner
Morning: Pigeon Volcano, officially part of Xilingol Grassland Volcanoes National Geopark, is the youngest and best-preserved basaltic volcano in the Xilinhot–Abag group and an iconic grassland volcanic landmark. Return to the volcanoes for soft morning sidelight, photographing crater details and basalt lava textures. The instructor guides volcanic landscape composition and aerial camera movements. Afternoon: continue west, stopping to photograph the Gobi grasslands along the way, and arrive in Abag Banner.

DAY 06Nov 7 · Beijing · Asia/ShanghaiBaodeer Stone Forest–China–Mongolia Border Road–Buddha’s Palm Land Art–Erlian Salt Lake–Erenhot
Morning: Baodeer Stone Forest, a grassland granite landscape of unusual rocks and stone peaks in the Gobi grassland. Use sidelight to capture contrasting textures. Noon: follow the China–Mongolia border road, photographing wide Gobi border landscapes and dramatic road scenes along the way. Afternoon: photograph the palm-like contours of the Buddha’s Palm land artwork from above, then visit Erlian Salt Lake. Capture crystallized salt crusts and saline-earth textures, and the lake’s warm and cool sunset light.

Timetable changes may require minor adjustments to the itinerary. Please follow the final trip details sent before departure. [Accommodation] The total is based on two people sharing a room. We'll try to match solo travelers with a roommate of the same gender. If you prefer not to share, or no roommate is available, you must pay a single supplement for your own room. [Group meals] We aim to serve meals suited to Chinese tastes. We make sure everyone has enough to eat. [Photography] 1. Photography sessions follow the itinerary, but conditions on the day may affect how long we spend at each location. 2. Read the itinerary carefully and choose a trip that suits your health and circumstances. Skipping part of the itinerary for health or other personal reasons, or choosing not to use the arranged accommodation or transport, counts as voluntary withdrawal from those arrangements. You are responsible for your own safety while not taking part in the itinerary. 3. Stay with the group during photography sessions unless you have permission to leave. This does not apply during free time. The organizing team is not responsible for accidents that occur while you are away from the group. 4. Typhoons, blizzards or other events beyond our control may require changes to the itinerary. [Fuel surcharges] The organizing team reserves the right to adjust the amount payable if fluctuations in global oil markets lead to a substantial rise in fuel surcharges. If the team can absorb the increase, the amount payable will remain unchanged. [Before departure] 1. We'll send your final trip details no later than the day before departure. Shared expenses
